Job Description
A Pheresis Nurse is a trained nursing specialist who performs apheresis procedures. These are specialized medical processes involving drawing blood from a donor or patient, separating a specific component (such as plasma, platelets, or white blood cells), and returning the remaining components to the bloodstream. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a medical team working in a hospital or specialized medical center in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform various types of apheresis procedures (e.g., plasmapheresis, plateletpheresis, leukapheresis) safely and efficiently.
- Assess the condition of donors or patients prior to the procedure and ensure they meet all health criteria.
- Closely monitor patients/donors during and after the apheresis process to detect and manage any adverse reactions promptly.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated apheresis equipment, ensuring sterilization according to the highest standards.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records for all procedures and follow-ups.
- Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to develop care plans for patients requiring these procedures as part of their treatment.
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols and standard infection control practices.
- Educate patients and donors about the nature of the procedure and what to expect.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualifications and Licenses:
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a recognized nursing diploma.
- A valid license to practice nursing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (facilitation for obtaining this will be discussed for candidates outside KSA).
- Specialized training certification or documented experience in Apheresis (Pheresis) is a significant competitive advantage.
Required Experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of practical nursing experience, with preference given to experience in related departments such as: Emergency Rooms, Intensive Care Units, Hematology/Oncology departments, or Blood Banks.
- Prior direct experience in performing apheresis procedures is considered an essential requirement or a very strong advantage, depending on the client's specific needs.
Personal and Professional Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work with high precision under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to the highest standards of professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Flexibility to work in different shifts (morning, evening, night) as required by the department.
- Proficiency in English for handling equipment and medical reports. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
