Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical (Doha, Qatar)
Indman DMCC, a prominent provider of engineering services and project management, is actively seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join its dynamic team in Doha, Qatar. Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the financial and commercial aspects of mechanical systems packages on construction projects. Core responsibilities will include:
- Cost Preparation & Analysis: Preparing initial cost estimates and detailed budgets for mechanical projects, encompassing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems.
- Quantity Take-Off: Performing accurate quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and schematics for mechanical components.
- Financial Claims Management: Preparing interim payment applications and final account statements.
- Price Analysis & Pricing: Analyzing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, and preparing pricing analyses for materials and labor.
- Change Management: Evaluating and pricing variation orders and contractor claims, reconciling them with contract terms.
- Procurement Support: Assisting the procurement team in drafting tender documents and evaluating technical and commercial submissions.
- Financial Monitoring: Monitoring actual costs against approved budgets and preparing cost forecasting reports.
- Contract Compliance: Ensuring adherence to the terms and conditions of contracts with clients and contractors.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure the project's financial efficiency.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, CIOB) are a strong advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor role, with a strong focus on mechanical packages within the construction sector. Experience on Qatari or GCC projects is a significant plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and spreadsheet applications (MS Excel).
- In-depth knowledge of standard construction contract forms (e.g., FIDIC).
- Strong understanding of market rates, materials, and mechanical equipment pricing.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent analytical and numeracy skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Team player with the capability to work independently.
- Other Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic will be beneficial.
