Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of occupational health and safety are implemented across all project phases. Key duties will include:

• Developing, implementing, and maintaining project-specific safety plans and procedures in full compliance with company policies and local/international regulations (e.g., Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) standards, OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001).
• Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and observations to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
• Investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, preparing detailed reports, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Organizing and delivering safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees and contractors to foster a strong safety culture on site.
• Reviewing work plans and method statements (e.g., for permit-to-work activities) to ensure all necessary safety precautions are incorporated.
• Collaborating closely with the project manager, engineers, and contractors to integrate safety considerations into all planning and execution stages.
• Preparing and maintaining safety records, documentation, and periodic statistical reports for project management and relevant stakeholders.
• Participating in safety meetings and providing recommendations for continuous safety performance improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Industrial, or Mechanical) or in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
• A recognized professional certification in safety (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, CSP, IOSH Managing Safely) will be a significant advantage.
• A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a Safety Engineer or Safety Supervisor role, preferably on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of Saudi Arabian safety regulations and systems (e.g., Civil Defense requirements, SASO regulations).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess, and establish effective controls for workplace hazards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) in English. Arabic language skills are highly beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and in a multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in using standard MS Office applications and reporting software.
