Job Overview

The Senior Specialist will hold a pivotal role within a specialized team responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic partnership initiatives and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activities that serve the long-term investment objectives of the Oman Investment Authority. The focus will be on exploring opportunities that enhance portfolio value, support knowledge and technology transfer, and contribute to Oman's Vision 2040.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Opportunity Identification: Conduct ongoing research and analysis of potential strategic partnership and M&A opportunities locally, regionally, and internationally, aligned with the Authority's strategy.
  • Financial Analysis & Modeling: Perform in-depth financial and economic due diligence, and prepare complex financial models to assess project feasibility, forecast returns, and evaluate risks.
  • Deal Execution Management: Lead or actively participate in all stages of the deal process, from initial screening and valuation through negotiation, legal documentation, and successful deal closure.
  • Partnership Development: Structure strategic partnership frameworks and collaborative agreements with potential partners, ensuring mutual benefits are achieved.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive analytical presentations and reports for senior management and investment committees to support informed decision-making.
  • Post-Deal Monitoring: Participate in monitoring the performance of investments and partnerships post-closure, assessing the achievement of strategic and financial objectives.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics. A Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or professional qualifications like the CFA are a significant advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in fields such as Private Equity, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, or within a dedicated M&A team in a major corporation.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial analysis and modeling using Microsoft Excel, with a deep understanding of valuation principles and financial metrics.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and complex problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English, and the capacity to work under pressure within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of the business environment and regulatory landscape in Oman and the Gulf region.
