The foundations of Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University were laid as the Ağrı Girls First Teacher School, which was established under the Ministry of National Education in the 1967-1968 academic year and it was transformed into a two-year Institute of Education after 1977-1978 academic year and continued its teacher training function. On 30 June 1982 it was affiliated to Atatürk University Kazım Karabekir Faculty of Education as Ağrı School of Education. On 03.07.1992 School of Education has been transformed into Ağrı Education Faculty and has continued to provide teaching at the undergraduate level for elementary education under Rectorate of Atatürk University. On July 3, 1992, Ağrı School of Education was transformed into the Faculty of Education and continued to provide education at undergraduate level for primary education until 2007 under Atatürk University Rectorate. School of Health was established on 02.11.1996. School started education under Atatürk University in the academic year 2003-2004. Our university, which was established as Ağrı Dağı University, was changed as Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University on 28.06.2008.
In our University, there are 11 Faculties and, 10 Vocational School.
