Job Description

The OT Security Engineer will join a specialized team responsible for safeguarding and maintaining the security of clients' Operational Technology (OT) systems. This encompasses Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and automation platforms within critical sectors such as energy, water, oil & gas, and manufacturing. The engineer will be at the forefront of defending these systems against evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities:

• Risk Assessment & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments for existing and planned OT systems, identifying potential vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
• Security Solution Design & Implementation: Design, plan, and implement multi-layered defense-in-depth security architectures for OT environments, aligning with global best practices and standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82).
• Monitoring & Incident Response: Monitor the OT environment for suspicious activities or intrusion attempts. Play a lead role in responding to security incidents, containing threats, and performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Audit & Compliance: Perform regular security audits to ensure OT systems comply with internal policies and relevant Qatari and international regulatory standards.
• Awareness & Training: Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to raise security awareness and provide technical guidance on OT security best practices.
• Security Project Management: Contribute to the management and implementation of projects aimed at upgrading and enhancing the security posture of OT systems from inception to delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of 3-5 years in OT Security or Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of OT/ICS/SCADA systems, their protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC), and components (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs).
  • Experience with specialized OT security tools and appliances (firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, log aggregators).
  • Knowledge of networking principles and segmentation as applied to OT environments.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and guidelines such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and IEC 62443.
• Professional Certifications: Relevant certifications are a significant advantage, including:
  • GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional)
  • ICS/SCADA Cybersecurity Certifications
  • General security certifications like CISSP, CISM, or Security+
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical and investigative skills. Ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey technical details to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work effectively within a team.
