Safety Engineer Job in Kuwait

Job Description and Responsibilities
The Safety Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety systems and procedures across the company's work sites. He/She will work closely with engineering, operations, and management teams to foster a zero-accident work environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and updating HSE policies and procedures in compliance with local (Kuwait Petroleum Corporation standards) and international regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Conducting regular Risk Assessments and analyzing root causes for incidents (JSA, HAZOP) for all operational activities and new projects.
- Performing safety audits, inspections, and reviews at field sites, plants, and processing units to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Investigating all incidents, work-related injuries, and environmental safety events to determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Designing and implementing effective training programs for company employees and contractors on safety procedures, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and emergency response.
- Reviewing new engineering plans and equipment specifications to ensure safety requirements are integrated at the design stage.
- Preparing periodic reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety for presentation to senior management.
- Participating in the development of emergency response plans and organizing related drills.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Safety and Occupational Health).
- Professional Certifications: A professional certification in safety (such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent) will be a significant advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in safety engineering, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or refining industries.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HSE management systems, Kuwaiti and international safety legislation, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Arabic/English), leadership and influencing abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work under pressure in field environments.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work at various sites and conduct regular field visits.
