Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager - Planning will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning and scheduling activities for hydrocarbon engineering projects. The core focus will be on ensuring project execution adheres to defined timelines and approved budgets. Key expected responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of detailed project plans and master schedules.
  • Continuously monitoring project progress, identifying any deviations from the baseline plan, and proposing corrective actions.
  • Preparing periodic progress reports and performance statistics for project management and senior leadership.
  • Collaborating closely with Project Managers and heads of engineering, construction, and logistics departments to ensure integration of all activities.
  • Supporting the resource allocation process and critical path analysis to optimize project efficiency.
  • Utilizing specialized planning software and techniques (such as Primavera P6 or MS Project) to manage scheduling data.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field) from a recognized university. A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration or Project Management would be an added advantage.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling, with a strong focus on hydrocarbon engineering, oil & gas, or major infrastructure projects. Previous experience working in the Middle East region, particularly in Oman or neighboring GCC countries, is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in project planning software, specifically Oracle Primavera P6. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites, particularly Excel.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus). Ability to work under pressure and navigate challenges in a complex project environment. Team spirit and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Work Location and Environment

The position will be based in the Sultanate of Oman, with potential mobility between main office locations and project sites as required by the job.
