Job Description
The Construction Manager will hold a pivotal leadership role, bearing primary responsibility for the overall planning, coordination, and direct supervision of one or more construction projects from inception through to final handover. Key Expected Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead the on-site construction team including engineers, supervisors, and laborers, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure a productive and safe working environment.
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans and realistic timelines, continuously monitoring progress to ensure adherence to critical deadlines.
- Budget Management: Meticulously monitor project costs, control expenditures, and prepare periodic financial reports for senior management.
- Quality Control: Ensure all construction work is executed in strict compliance with approved technical specifications and designs, and review quality control plans.
- Safety First: Implement and enforce rigorous site safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring full compliance with Qatari Civil Defense regulations.
- Coordination & Communication: Act as the primary liaison between all project stakeholders, including the client, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and the company's senior management.
- Contract & Procurement Management: Review subcontractor agreements and oversee the procurement process for materials and equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Identify technical or administrative challenges and obstacles facing the project and work proactively to develop swift and effective solutions.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related construction field. A Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of leading large-scale (residential, commercial, or governmental) projects in the Gulf region. Prior experience in Qatar is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, building materials, local building codes (QCS), and safety protocols. Strong proficiency in project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Personal Skills: Exceptional leadership and people management abilities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude. Ability to work under pressure and make decisive decisions. Meticulous attention to detail.
