Job Description and Responsibilities
The Diving Lead will hold a pivotal role in the project, with the following core responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Provide full leadership and direct supervision to the diving team, including divers and support technicians, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
- Operations Planning: Develop detailed and safe diving work plans, in compliance with project specifications and the highest international standards (e.g., IMCA, HSE standards).
- Safety Management: Ensure strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols before, during, and after every diving operation. You will be the primary responsible for the team's safety culture.
- Coordination & Liaison: Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, engineers, and various departments (operations, maintenance, logistics) to integrate diving activities into the overall project schedule.
- Quality Control: Supervise the quality of all subsea work, ensuring it meets the required technical and engineering specifications.
- Equipment Management: Be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all diving equipment and support systems (e.g., hyperbaric chambers, communication systems) to ensure their full readiness and safety.
- Training & Development: Assess team performance, provide necessary coaching, and participate in skill development programs to maintain the highest level of competency.
- Reporting: Prepare accurate technical reports on operations progress, any safety incidents, and achievements for management review.
Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A degree in a relevant field such as Marine Engineering, Diving Technology, or Marine Sciences. Exceptional practical experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Professional Certification: Must hold internationally recognized commercial diving certifications (e.g., IMCA Diver or equivalent) with relevant bell/saturation and/or gas mix classifications as required by the project scope.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in industrial diving, with a proven track record of at least 3 to 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role (as Dive Supervisor or Diving Team Lead).
- Sector Experience: Prior experience working on offshore energy projects (Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind, Subsea Infrastructure) is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of marine safety systems and procedures (e.g., SOLAS), IMCA standards, and local Qatari regulations.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead and motivate a team in a challenging work environment, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic will be a distinct advantage.
- Medical Fitness: Must pass periodic medical examinations specific to commercial diving.
Work Location and Conditions
- Location: State of Qatar.
- Job Type: Full-time, working on a rotational shift pattern (typically 28 days on / off) as required by the offshore project.
- Work Environment: Primarily based at the offshore project site (platform or vessel), with periods in onshore offices for planning and reporting.
