Job Overview
The Emergency Response Manager will be the primary leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's comprehensive emergency response strategies and plans. You will bear the responsibility for ensuring the organization's readiness to handle a wide spectrum of potential incidents, from minor industrial accidents to major emergencies and disasters, while safeguarding personnel, property, and the environment, and minimizing operational disruption.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Strategic Planning: Develop, review, and update the company's overarching Emergency Response Plans in alignment with international best practices (e.g., NFPA, ISO 22301) and local Omani regulations.
- Leadership & Coordination: Lead the Emergency Response Team during incidents, and coordinate effectively with internal departments (Operations, HSE, Public Relations) and external agencies (Civil Defence, Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance, hospitals).
- Training & Drills: Design and implement regular training programs and practical exercises (tabletop and live drills) for all levels to ensure plan comprehension and effective execution.
- Resource Management: Ensure the availability, maintenance, and readiness of all necessary emergency response equipment, communication systems, and supplies, managing the allocated budget.
- Evaluation & Improvement: Conduct post-incident investigations and analyses, identify lessons learned, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement of plans and procedures.
- Awareness: Promote a strong culture of safety and emergency preparedness among all company employees and contractors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Chemical/Industrial), Emergency Management, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), or a related field. A Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of practical experience in emergency management or incident response, with at least 5 years of proven leadership experience in an industrial, oil & gas, or petrochemical environment. Experience in the GCC region, specifically in Oman, is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of emergency management systems, risk assessment, rescue operations, evacuation planning, and crisis communication systems.
- Skills: Exceptional leadership and management skills. Ability to make quick, decisive decisions under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Incident Command System (ICS) credentials, or NEBOSH will significantly strengthen your application.
