Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful superintendent will be based at McDermott's project site(s) in Qatar and will be directly responsible for overseeing all fabrication activities. Core responsibilities include:

• Leadership & Supervision: Directing and managing technical and manual work teams in the fabrication yard or site, including welders, fitters, and assemblers.
• Quality Assurance: Ensuring all fabrication processes strictly adhere to engineering design specifications, applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ASME), and the stringent quality standards of both the company and the client.
• Schedule Adherence: Planning daily and weekly operations, monitoring progress to ensure tasks are completed within the defined timeline and approved budget.
• Safety First: Promoting and enforcing a strong safety culture. Ensuring full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures, conducting regular inspections, and participating in incident investigations when necessary.
• Coordination: Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Quality Managers, and Procurement teams to ensure seamless integration between fabrication and other site activities.
• Problem-Solving: Identifying technical or operational challenges that arise during fabrication and proposing and implementing practical, effective solutions.
• Reporting: Preparing daily and weekly reports on progress, workforce productivity, equipment status, and any safety incidents or non-conformances.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Significant and proven practical experience in a similar domain may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial fabrication or construction, with a focus on oil & gas, energy, or offshore facilities projects. This experience must include at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role (e.g., Supervisor, Foreman).
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of fabrication processes, welding techniques (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW), reading engineering drawings (P&IDs, Isometrics), and planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Personal Skills: Excellent leadership and management abilities. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English; Arabic is a significant advantage. Ability to work under pressure and make quick, decisive decisions. Keen attention to detail and commitment to standards.
• Professional Certifications: Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001 lead auditor) are a strong plus.
