Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The FM Shift Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of critical building systems during their assigned shift. This role is vital for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all building occupants, with a core focus on MEP systems. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring & Operations: Continuously monitor the performance of all MEP systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical power, pumping systems, plumbing) via central control panels and through regular physical rounds.
- Preventive & Emergency Maintenance: Conduct routine inspection rounds for early fault detection. Provide prompt and effective response to any emergency breakdowns or service interruptions during the shift, performing first-line repairs or coordinating with specialized teams.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately log meter readings, energy consumption, and any incidents or faults occurring during the shift in operational logs. Prepare daily reports on system status and maintenance activities performed.
- Compliance Adherence: Ensure all operational and maintenance activities comply with local and international safety standards, civil defense regulations, and facility management best practices.
- Coordination: Work closely with the facility management team, subcontractors, and external service providers to ensure service continuity.
- Project Support: Provide technical support during minor upgrade or modification works on existing systems, under the guidance of a lead engineer.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical diploma from a recognized institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in Facility Management (FM) or MEP systems maintenance, preferably within commercial facilities or large office buildings.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HVAC principles, low-voltage electrical distribution, plumbing, and firefighting systems.
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics and technical drawings. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot under pressure.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work on a rotating shift basis (morning/evening/night) and on weekends as per operational requirements.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team. High reliability and strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Driving License: A valid UAE driving license is preferred.
