Instrument Maintenance Technician - Power Sector

A leading entity in the vital power sector is seeking to hire an Instrument Maintenance Technician to work in the United Arab Emirates. Job Description

The successful technician will be stationed at a operational site, most likely within a power generation plant or energy infrastructure facility. The core responsibilities will focus on ensuring the optimal and precise functioning of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems, which are the critical nerve center of any industrial plant, especially in the power sector. Expected daily tasks include:

  • Performing scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) on measurement devices such as Pressure Gauges, Flow Meters, Temperature Sensors, and Analyzers.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults promptly and effectively (Corrective Maintenance) to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Calibrating instruments and systems according to precise standard specifications and established protocols to ensure reading accuracy and control.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and manufacturer's operation manuals.
  • Working closely with engineering and operations teams to identify technical issues and propose improvements.
  • Maintaining accurate and clear maintenance records and technical reports.
  • Strictly adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures in a high-risk industrial work environment.

Requirements and Qualifications

To apply for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in instrument and control system maintenance, with a strong preference for experience within the power, oil & gas, or similar heavy industries.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of the working principles of analog and digital measurement devices.
    • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems will be a significant advantage.
    • Proficiency in using calibration equipment, hand tools, and specialized technical tools.
    • A solid understanding of industrial safety standards (e.g., awareness of hazardous area classifications).
  • Personal Skills:
    • Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work under pressure and troubleshoot problems proactively.
    • Good communication skills for working within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Flexibility to work according to a schedule that may include shift work or emergency call-outs.
