Job Overview

The Lead Estimator plays a pivotal role within the company's Contracts and Estimation department. The core responsibility involves managing the end-to-end cost estimation process for major construction projects with high precision, from initial tender stages through to the preparation of final bids. The Lead works within a specialized team and contributes directly to project success by ensuring financial accuracy and competitiveness in client proposals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead and manage the complete cost estimation process for new construction projects, including the analysis of tender documents (drawings, specifications, contract conditions).
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates encompassing all work items: materials, labor, equipment, overheads, and profit.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement officers to ensure comprehensive estimates and reliable data input.
• Conduct risk analysis and identify potential cost items not explicitly detailed in initial documentation.
• Review and audit estimates prepared by other team members to ensure quality and consistency.
• Prepare and present professional bids and proposals to clients, with the ability to explain and discuss cost components.
• Participate in post-submission meetings and negotiate on technical and commercial terms.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market prices for construction materials and services in the Abu Dhabi/UAE region.
• Utilize specialized estimation software (e.g., Candy, CCS, or similar) to enhance work efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of practical experience in cost estimation within the construction sector, with proven team leadership experience.
• Strong experience in estimating costs for various project types (residential, commercial, infrastructure).
• In-depth knowledge of local UAE construction methods, specification systems, and building regulations.
• Excellent proficiency in estimation-specific computer software and spreadsheets (e.g., Advanced MS Excel).
• Exceptional analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in English; Arabic is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and mentor a team.
