Mechanical Technician (Rotating) Job in Qatar

A client company of Universal Staffing Services is seeking to hire a Mechanical Technician specialized in Rotating Equipment to join their team in the State of Qatar. Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Technician will be assigned to a worksite, with core responsibilities focused on rotating equipment essential to various industrial processes. Expected duties and tasks include:

• Performing routine and preventive maintenance on rotating equipment such as pumps (centrifugal, reciprocating), compressors, turbines, and turbo-machinery.
• Troubleshooting and repairing faulty rotating equipment, identifying root causes of failures to prevent recurrence.
• Dismantling and assembling rotating equipment according to technical specifications and approved safety protocols.
• Conducting precise shaft alignment using advanced measurement tools like laser alignment systems.
• Measuring and adjusting mechanical clearances such as bearing clearances and shaft seal gaps.
• Participating in the commissioning of new equipment and testing it under actual operating conditions.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and P&ID diagrams.
• Accurately documenting all maintenance and repair work, including daily reports, checklists, and recording labor hours and parts used.
• Strictly adhering to all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures on-site, ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institute or college.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in rotating equipment maintenance, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power Generation, or heavy manufacturing industries.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of the working principles and construction of pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and mechanical hand tools.
  • Good understanding of relevant global maintenance standards (e.g., API, ISO).
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Personal Skills: Attention to detail, reliability, problem-solving ability, and physical fitness to work in industrial settings.
• Other Requirements: Proficiency in English for reading and comprehension (to understand instructions and manuals). The applicant must be eligible to obtain a valid residence and work permit in Qatar.
