Job Description

The Network Technician will be assigned to the IT infrastructure division, responsible for operational tasks and hands-on technical support. The core responsibilities of this role include:

• Installation & Maintenance of Network Equipment: Assisting in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of physical network components such as routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
• Network Performance Monitoring: Utilizing monitoring tools to track network health and performance, identifying potential issues before they impact end-users.
• Troubleshooting & Resolution: Responding to network-related incidents and support requests, performing systematic diagnostics to resolve connectivity and performance issues in a timely manner.
• On-site Technical Support: Providing direct support to end-users or other teams regarding on-site network connectivity problems.
• Network Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of network configurations, diagrams, and incident reports to ensure a clear reference for the IT team.
• Cross-team Collaboration: Working closely with network engineers and other departments to implement projects or network upgrades.

Requirements & Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

• A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Professional certifications are a significant advantage, such as:
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • CompTIA Network+.
  • Or other foundational networking certifications.

Experience & Skills:

• 1 to 3 years of practical experience in network support or administration.
• Strong understanding of core networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, OSI Model).
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors like Cisco.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot internet and Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity issues.
• Good analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve urgent problems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently.
• Basic knowledge of network security is an added advantage.
