Planning Engineer Job - Grupo Middle East - Doha, Qatar

Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Planning Engineer will be assigned to the project management team and will be primarily responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating all project schedules to ensure work is completed on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and analyzing comprehensive project schedules using specialized planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Working closely with the Project Manager and engineering team to develop realistic and achievable baseline plans.
- Regularly monitoring project progress and comparing actual achievement against set plans.
- Identifying and analyzing any schedule delays or deviations and proposing effective corrective actions.
- Preparing clear and comprehensive periodic reports on project status and progress for senior management and stakeholders.
- Participating in assessing the impact of scope changes on the overall schedule and cost.
- Supporting the tendering process by preparing and analyzing preliminary schedules.
- Ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards in all planning activities.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field from a recognized university.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role as a Planning Engineer, preferably within the construction, infrastructure, or oil & gas sector in the Gulf region. Experience in Qatar is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in project planning software, with a particular emphasis on Oracle Primavera P6. You must have excellent skills in the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical ability with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. A team player with the ability to collaborate with diverse departments.
