Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Project Instrument Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and technical aspects related to instrumentation and control systems across the company's projects. Core responsibilities include:

  • Design and Engineering: Participating in the engineering design phase for project instrumentation and control systems, including preparing technical specifications, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and selecting appropriate equipment.
  • Project Management: Providing technical engineering support throughout all project execution phases, from tendering and planning to delivery, installation, and commissioning.
  • Coordination and Supervision: Coordinating with internal teams (such as mechanical and electrical engineers) as well as with vendors and subcontractors to ensure instrumentation systems align with overall project requirements.
  • Drawing Review and Approval: Reviewing and approving technical drawings and documents submitted by contractors or vendors to ensure compliance with agreed specifications and international standards (e.g., API, ISA, IEC standards).
  • Quality and Safety Assurance: Ensuring all instrumentation and control-related work adheres to the stringent quality and safety standards upheld by the company and the State of Qatar.
  • Troubleshooting: Providing effective engineering solutions to any technical challenges or problems that arise during execution or operation phases.
  • Reporting: Preparing regular technical reports on work progress, issues encountered, and proposed solutions for project management.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation and control engineering, with a proven track record in contracting projects within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Water, or Manufacturing.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of instrumentation systems (flow meters, pressure/temperature transmitters, control valves), control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA), and industrial communication protocols.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in relevant engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD) and standard office software.
  • Professional Certifications: International professional certifications (such as CFSE or ISA certifications) are considered a strong advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written), the ability to work effectively within a team and a multicultural environment, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
