Job Description & Responsibilities
The Senior Compliance Officer will occupy a pivotal role within the company's organizational structure, primarily responsible for ensuring all group activities and divisions comply with relevant local and international laws, regulations, internal policies, and best-practice standards. Key expected responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and updating a comprehensive compliance and internal control framework across the Khimji Ramdas Group.
- Monitoring changes in the regulatory landscape in Oman and the Gulf region, assessing their impact on the group's businesses, and providing necessary recommendations.
- Designing and delivering training programs for company staff on compliance policies and rules relevant to their areas of work.
- Conducting periodic compliance risk assessments and identifying potential gaps in existing systems and policies.
- Investigating any potential reportable breaches or complaints related to compliance and preparing detailed reports for senior management.
- Acting as a key liaison with Omani regulatory bodies (such as the Capital Market Authority, Central Bank of Oman, etc.) as relevant to the sector's activity.
- Preparing regular reports for the Board of Directors and relevant committees on the company's compliance status and any material issues.
- Promoting a culture of compliance and professional ethics throughout all organizational levels.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A higher degree (Master's) or relevant professional certifications (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) will be a strong added advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in compliance, internal control, internal audit, or risk management, with a significant portion in a senior or supervisory role. Experience in a diverse, multi-sector business environment (conglomerate) is a major plus.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant Omani laws and regulations pertaining to commercial and industrial business activities. A solid understanding of international regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML/CFT, anti-bribery, data protection) is essential.
- Personal Skills: Exceptional analytical and investigative skills. High-level communication, influencing, and report-writing abilities. Absolute integrity, credibility, and objectivity. The ability to work independently and manage complex compliance projects.
- Language: Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) as the primary business language. Proficiency in Arabic is a significant added advantage.
Job Location
Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. The position will be based at the Khimji Ramdas Group's headquarters or main offices in the Omani capital.
