Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be integrated into a specialized technical team, bearing responsibility for critical tasks focused on quality assurance and compliance. The core duties associated with this role are expected to include:
- Mechanical Systems Inspection: Conduct thorough and detailed inspections of mechanical systems in both new and existing property projects. This encompasses HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, heating systems, plumbing and sanitary drainage systems, and mechanical fire protection systems.
- Design and Plan Review: Review mechanical engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure compliance with local and international standards, as well as engineering best practices.
- Snag Identification and Reporting: Identify, document, and report any defects, deficiencies, or non-conformities in the design, installation, or materials of mechanical systems. Clearly log these findings in detailed technical reports.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare comprehensive, clear, and professional technical reports that outline inspection findings and provide practical recommendations for remedial actions and repairs.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, and property owners to clarify technical snags and follow up on the implementation of corrective measures.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all mechanical works comply with relevant Saudi Arabian regulations and standards, such as the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other pertinent specifications.
- Technical Advisory: Provide expert technical advice and support to internal teams and clients on complex mechanical issues related to property construction and quality.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this senior-level position, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. A Master's degree or advanced professional certifications will be a distinct advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on building inspection and quality control. Previous experience with property inspection firms, engineering consultancies, or major contractors is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of building mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection) and relevant codes (ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA). Familiarity with Saudi Arabian building regulations is essential.
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills in both Arabic and English. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of a professional certification such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Building Inspector is a significant competitive advantage.
- Other: Candidates must have a valid residency permit (Iqama) for Saudi Arabia. Transfer of sponsorship is possible for exceptional candidates currently outside the Kingdom.
