Sunway University

Overview

Sunway University is a private, not-for-profit institution owned and governed by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation. It is situated in the Klang Valley, approximately 20 km away from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and has its origins in Sunway University College, founded in 2004 to provide opportunities for young Malaysians to obtain higher education at the tertiary level in areas of national need and interest. It was officially registered as a University in January 2011 and came into being with the vision of becoming a world-class university. The University has been achieving “Excellent” ratings in the national rating system of all universities and university colleges in Malaysia, the SETARA 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017. Sunway University has a student population of over 7,000. It has six schools – School of Arts, School of Hospitality, School of Healthcare and Medical Sciences, School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Science and Technology, School of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Sunway University Business School. It has a vibrant, veritable global community on campus as 20% of its total student population is international, coming from over 50 countries. Sunway University’s campus building is equipped with excellent facilities and infrastructure to support 21st century higher education. The campus is integrated within the well-planned township of Sunway City via a unique, one-of-a-kind canopy walkway.
