Lead Process Safety Engineer - Jereh Group (Manama, Bahrain)

Jereh Group, a global leader in providing integrated solutions and equipment to the energy sector, is seeking applications for the position of Lead Process Safety Engineer at its office in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. This role represents a critical leadership position within the technical team, where the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety in the design and operation of industrial processes, particularly in oil, gas, and energy projects.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Lead Process Safety Engineer will be the cornerstone for developing and implementing risk management and safety strategies. Core responsibilities include:

  • Technical Leadership: Directing and managing process safety engineering activities across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with international standards (e.g., OSHA, IEC) and local regulations in Bahrain and the Gulf region.
  • Risk Analysis: Conducting and evaluating advanced risk studies such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Job Risk Analysis (JRA), and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA).
  • Standards Development: Developing, reviewing, and managing in-house process safety engineering policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Design Review: Reviewing and approving engineering design schematics and documentation for new projects and modifications to existing assets to ensure "Safety by Design" principles are incorporated.
  • Incident Investigation: Leading or participating in incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes, and developing corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Training & Awareness: Designing and delivering training programs to enhance safety awareness among engineering and operational teams.
  • Client Interface: Representing the company in technical meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies concerning all process safety matters.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this leadership opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field from an accredited university. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Professional Certification: Recognized professional certifications in Process Safety (e.g., CFSE, Risk Management certification) are highly desirable.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Process Safety Engineering, with a strong focus on the oil & gas, energy, or petrochemical industries. Experience must include a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Deep proficiency in safety engineering software and principles, including conducting HAZOP/HAZID studies, fire & explosion relief calculations, and protection systems design.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities, coupled with strong analytical skills for solving complex problems. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude and a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Language: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a beneficial advantage.
