Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Engineering Manager will hold a pivotal role within the company's structure, responsible for leading and directing the entire engineering department. The core responsibilities of the position include:
- Strategic Leadership: Developing engineering plans and strategies for the company that align with its overall objectives and growth in the Qatari market.
- Project Management: Overseeing the full lifecycle of contracting engineering projects, from initial planning and design through to execution and final handover, while ensuring strict adherence to quality, specifications, timelines, and defined budgets.
- Team Management: Leading and developing a cohesive team of engineers and technicians, delegating tasks, providing technical guidance and support, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensuring the implementation of the highest quality and safety standards across all projects, with strict compliance to local and international building codes and regulations applicable in the State of Qatar.
- Coordination & Liaison: Acting as a key interface between the Engineering department and other internal departments (such as senior management, procurement, and operations), as well as with clients, subcontractors, and external consultants.
- Technical Review: Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, calculations, feasibility studies, and technical reports before they are sanctioned for implementation.
- Continuous Improvement: Proposing and implementing innovative engineering solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and keep pace with the latest technological advancements in the construction and contracting industry.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) from an accredited university. A Master's degree or advanced professional certifications (such as PMP, Chartered Engineer) are a strong advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 10 to 15 years of professional experience in the engineering field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Engineering Manager or Senior Project Manager) within the contracting or construction sector. Experience in the Gulf market, specifically Qatar, is a significant plus.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2), and engineering design/analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Leadership & Personal Skills:
- Excellent leadership and managerial abilities to inspire and motivate teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Outstanding analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in changing circumstances.
- Good knowledge of Qatari building systems and regulations (Qatar Construction Specifications, Ashghal standards, etc.).
