Sr Environment Site Engineer - Qatar

Job Description
The engineer will hold a leadership field position, serving as the primary authority overseeing all environmental aspects at the project site. They will work within a dynamic team to ensure full compliance with local and international environmental regulations, as well as the company's own sustainability policies and standards.
Key Expected Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Monitoring: Directly supervise the implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMP) on-site and conduct continuous environmental performance monitoring.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with the environmental stipulations in project permits and relevant Qatari laws.
- Inspection & Reporting: Conduct regular site inspections, identify potential environmental risks, and prepare detailed reports on environmental status for management review.
- Waste Management: Oversee the segregation, collection, transport, and disposal of various waste streams (industrial, hazardous, municipal) according to best practices.
- Monitoring & Measurement: Coordinate air, water, and noise quality monitoring in the project vicinity and analyze results.
- Awareness & Training: Organize awareness sessions for contractors and site personnel on proper environmental practices and safety procedures.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the liaison between project management and Qatari environmental regulatory bodies.
- Incident Management: Participate in developing environmental emergency response plans and respond effectively to any unplanned incidents or releases.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
Academic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or any closely related engineering field.
- Possession of professional certifications in Environmental Management or Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IEMA) will be a strong added advantage.
Practical Experience:
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in environmental management on major project sites, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure, or Construction sectors.
- Proven hands-on field experience in implementing Environmental Management Systems (e.g., ISO 14001) in complex project environments.
- Previous work experience within Qatar or the GCC region and a deep understanding of local environmental regulations is a significant competitive advantage.
- Experience in dealing with contractors and supervising their environmental performance.
Personal & Professional Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Qatari environmental laws and regulations.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- High proficiency in preparing technical reports and data analysis.
- The ability to make quick, effective decisions to solve emergent environmental issues.
