Job Description

The Linux Administrator will play a critical role within the company's IT infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be the primary point of responsibility for ensuring the stability, efficiency, and security of the Linux server environments that support the company's core operations and business applications.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux server operating systems (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu Server).
• Monitor system performance using specialized tools, analyze metrics, and take proactive and corrective actions to ensure high availability.
• Manage cybersecurity for Linux systems, including applying security patches, configuring firewalls, and implementing access control policies.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting languages like Bash or Python to improve operational efficiency.
• Administer backup and recovery systems to ensure data protection and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to operations teams and internal users regarding server and application issues.
• Collaborate with development, network, and database teams for application deployments and ensuring system integration.
• Document procedures and system architecture to maintain institutional knowledge.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven hands-on experience of 3 to 5 years in Linux server administration and management in a production environment.
• Strong command of Linux shell and filesystem hierarchy.
• Practical experience in managing and configuring common Linux services such as Apache/Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL, DNS, DHCP, SSH.
• Working knowledge of version control systems like Git.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef (a significant plus).
• Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP protocols, VLANs, Routing).
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or KVM.
• Professional certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or LFCE (Linux Foundation Certified Engineer) will be a strong competitive advantage.
