QA/QC Engineer (Piping/Pipeline & Mechanical) in Qatar
A major company (a client of Brunel) is seeking to hire a dedicated QA/QC Engineer specializing in Piping/Pipeline and Mechanical works for its large-scale projects in Qatar. Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the strict application of quality and safety standards across all project phases, with a focus on piping and mechanical components. Core responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing Quality Assurance/Control (QA/QC) Plans specific to piping/pipeline and mechanical systems projects.
- Conducting regular field inspections during fabrication, construction, installation, and testing of piping spools and mechanical equipment.
- Reviewing and approving quality documentation such as Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), test certificates, welding procedures/reports (WPS/PQR/WPQ), and material records.
- Working closely with contractor and vendor teams to ensure all materials and workmanship comply with approved technical specifications and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).
- Identifying and logging Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and following up on corrective and preventive actions until closure.
- Performing internal audits and reviews of quality systems, and participating in supplier audits as required.
- Preparing periodic technical reports on site quality status and reporting to project management.
- Ensuring full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards while performing duties.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Professional Certification: Certified Quality credentials (e.g., CWI, CSWIP, NACE, or equivalent) are a significant advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a QA/QC Engineer role, with a strong and proven focus on piping/pipeline projects and mechanical works.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of relevant international codes and specifications (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 1104, ISO 9001).
- Experience with various inspection methods and techniques (visual, dimensional, Non-Destructive Testing NDT).
- Strong understanding of welding processes and weld inspection.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement and inspection tools.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and documentation skills, ability to work under pressure, high level of discipline and accuracy, leadership skills, and the ability to work within a multicultural, multinational team.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
