Resident Engineer (Civil – Consultancy) Job in Sur, Oman
AMJAAD ENGINEERING AND CONTRACTING is currently recruiting for the position of Resident Engineer (Civil – Consultancy) to work on their projects in Sur, a significant industrial and economic city in the Sultanate of Oman. Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Resident Engineer will be responsible for the field-based consultancy supervision of the company's construction and development projects. Core duties include:
- Technical Supervision: Directly supervising all civil works on-site to ensure compliance with approved technical specifications, design drawings, and the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Quality & Safety Control: Implementing quality control programs and ensuring all parties (contractors, suppliers, laborers) adhere to stringent occupational health and safety standards to prevent accidents.
- Coordination & Management: Acting as the primary liaison between the consultancy entity (the company/client) and the executing contractor on-site. This involves coordinating work between different engineering disciplines and resolving emergent technical issues.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Preparing periodic reports (daily, weekly, monthly) on work progress, achievements, any violations or delays, and submitting them to project management.
- Document Review: Reviewing Shop Drawings, Change Orders, and Interim Payment Certificates for accuracy before submission for approval.
- Material & Construction Testing: Supervising material tests (e.g., concrete, steel) and load tests to ensure specification compliance.
- Schedule Adherence: Contributing to project schedule monitoring and reporting any obstacles that may impact the final delivery deadline.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of practical experience in consultancy supervision of major construction projects (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects).
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of international construction specifications (e.g., ASTM, BS, ACI) and quality/safety standards (e.g., ISO, OHSAS).
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and management skills, effective communication abilities with teams, contractors, and official entities, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Professional Certifications: Preference will be given to candidates with professional certifications such as PMP, or a Chartered Engineer status from a recognized institution.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in basic computer software and civil engineering programs (like AutoCAD, and project management software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project).
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic will be a distinct advantage.
