Ship Repair Coordinator Job in Oman

Job Overview
The Ship Repair Coordinator will serve as the central point of coordination for all ship repair and maintenance operations, acting as the critical liaison between vessel owners, repair yards, suppliers, engineers, and contractors. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in strict compliance with the highest industry standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate all stakeholders involved in ship repair projects, including clients (ship owners/operators), repair facilities (dry docks/shipyards), suppliers, subcontractors, and engineering teams.
- Develop detailed repair/maintenance plans and schedules, and conduct daily progress monitoring to ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Manage Request for Quotations (RFQs) and evaluate technical and commercial proposals from repair contractors.
- Monitor project budgets and costs, ensuring cost control and reporting any variances.
- Ensure compliance with all client technical specifications and relevant marine classification society standards (e.g., Lloyd's, ABS, DNV).
- Oversee the procurement process for required repair materials and spare parts.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to management and clients.
- Ensure strict implementation and adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols at the worksite.
- Resolve any issues or obstacles that arise during the various stages of the repair process.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field. Significant proven practical experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role (ship repair coordination, marine project management, shipyard supervision) within a marine industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of shipboard systems, repair procedures, and maintenance workflows.
- Strong understanding of marine industry standards and safety regulations (classification specifications, SOLAS, etc.).
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
- Proficiency in standard computer software (Microsoft Office Suite) and project planning tools.
