Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Site Quantity Surveyor will be the cornerstone of cost and financial resource management on the project ground. Key responsibilities include:

  • Measurement and Quantity Take-off: Conducting accurate site measurements and comparing them with drawings and technical specifications. Preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and ensuring their accuracy and alignment with the actual work executed.
  • Cost Monitoring and Budget Control: Continuously monitoring the project's actual costs against the approved budget. Identifying any financial variances, analyzing their causes, and proposing corrective solutions.
  • Management of Payment Applications and Claims: Preparing periodic interim payment applications and submitting them to the client or consultant. Managing and tracking financial claims related to changes in work scope, delays, or any other cost-impacting matters.
  • Valuation and Pricing: Evaluating offers from suppliers and subcontractors from a financial perspective. Assisting in preparing cost analyses for design changes or variation orders.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of practical experience in a quantity surveying role, with a strong preference for experience gained directly on project sites (Site-Based Experience) in major civil infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, sewage, water projects).
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of standard measurement methods (such as POMI or SMM) and a strong grasp of contract principles and local construction regulations in the Gulf region.
  • Personal Skills: Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and face challenges. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in relevant computer software, especially MS Excel, and specialized quantity surveying software (like CostX or similar).
