Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Finance will be integrated into the hotel or resort's executive structure, working closely with the Director of Finance and other senior leaders. Core expected responsibilities include:

  • Daily Operations Oversight: Assisting in managing the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, payroll, and financial data entry.
  • Financial Reporting: Contributing to the accurate and timely preparation of periodic financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) in accordance with Marriott International standards and local policies.
  • Internal Audit & Control: Ensuring compliance with all established financial policies and procedures, and assisting in implementing effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assisting in the budgeting and financial forecasting processes, analyzing variances between actual and projected results, and providing management recommendations.
  • Team Management: Supervising, training, and mentoring junior finance department staff to ensure departmental goals are met and performance is efficient.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other department heads (Sales, Operations, Food & Beverage) to provide necessary financial support and analysis for decision-making.
  • External Audit: Assisting in coordinating and facilitating external audit processes by certified auditing firms.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA) are a strong advantage.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in finance or accounting, with significant preference given to experience within the hotel/hospitality industry. Previous experience must include supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and practical knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Property Management Systems (e.g., Oracle Opera, Micros) is highly important.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership and team motivation abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), along with knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements in Saudi Arabia.
