Job Description and Responsibilities
The successful Civil Technician will be assigned to an integrated engineering team, responsible for a range of vital technical tasks that support site operations. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:
- Direct supervision of construction and implementation activities on-site according to approved engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assisting in planning and coordinating daily construction and building operation activities.
- Conducting accurate field measurements and leveling adjustments using surveying instruments such as Levels and Theodolites.
- Efficiently reading and understanding structural, architectural, and civil drawings, and ensuring execution compliance.
- Inspecting construction materials to ensure their quality and conformity to standard specifications.
- Monitoring execution quality and ensuring strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards in all operations.
- Preparing daily reports on work progress, achievements, and any challenges or technical observations.
- Coordinating with supervising engineers, subcontractors, and field labor to ensure operational smoothness.
- Contributing to the inspection of completed works prior to handover and ensuring their readiness.
Qualifications and Key Requirements
To be a suitable candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Civil Engineering or Civil Technology from a recognized institute or college.
- Work Experience: Practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in construction and building works, preferably with experience in major infrastructure projects or commercial/residential projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in using surveying measurement tools and instruments.
- Deep knowledge of construction materials and standard execution methods.
- Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of building and safety regulations and systems in Qatar (an added advantage).
- Personal Skills:
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills (Arabic/English).
- Ability to work under pressure and in construction site conditions.
- Team spirit and ability to supervise and guide.
- Flexibility and willingness to work overtime when required.
