Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed Consultant General Surgeon will be based at a hospital or specialized medical center, where they will be responsible for leading and performing a wide range of surgical and clinical duties. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:
- Performing complex and routine general surgical procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality care.
- Diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries requiring surgical intervention, including emergency cases.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this critical position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- A recognized Board Certification or equivalent postgraduate qualification in General Surgery from an accredited and reputable authority. A fellowship or superspecialty qualification in a sub-field of general surgery is highly preferred.
- A valid medical practice license from the country of qualification, with the ability to obtain a practice license from the Omani Ministry of Health.
Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of post-specialization practical experience, focusing on practicing general surgery at a consultant level.
- Proven experience in managing and performing a wide spectrum of surgical procedures.
- Previous work experience within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) healthcare systems will be a significant advantage.
