Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Consultant will serve as a key expert within the Haematology department, responsible for providing accurate diagnosis and specialized treatment for a wide range of blood disorders and related diseases. The core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing and treating various blood diseases such as anaemias, bleeding and clotting disorders (haemophilia, etc.), blood cancers (leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma), and bone marrow disorders.
  • Clinic Management: Overseeing outpatient haematology clinics and providing specialist consultations for referred patients.
  • Laboratory Liaison: Working closely with laboratory departments (especially the haematology lab) to review and interpret complex blood results, including blood film morphology, coagulation studies, and haemoglobin electrophoresis.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Actively participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and review boards, consulting with oncologists, immunologists, and other specialists to develop holistic patient management plans.
  • Training and Supervision: Providing mentorship and supervision to resident doctors and medical students, and contributing to continuous medical education programs within the center.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensuring adherence to the highest international medical standards, safety protocols, and professional ethics in all practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this prestigious role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Possession of an MBBS or equivalent medical degree, along with a recognized specialist post-graduate qualification (Board Certification/Fellowship) in Haematology.
  • Licensing: The candidate must hold a valid license to practice medicine in the United Arab Emirates (Ministry of Health and Prevention - MOH license) or be immediately eligible to obtain one. International board certifications are highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of post-board experience in the field of Haematology, with a proven track record in managing complex haematological cases.
  • Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and colleagues. Ability to work under pressure and make sound clinical decisions. In-depth knowledge of the latest advancements and research in haematology.
  • Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage.
