Job Overview

The ECI Lead will be responsible for leading and coordinating the main contractor's (BESIX) involvement in the early stages of a project, namely during the design and development phase. This Early Contractor Involvement model is crucial for the success of complex projects, ensuring practical construction expertise, buildability, and operational efficiency are brought to the design table from the outset. You will act as the key liaison between the design team (client and designers) and the internal execution team at BESIX.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead and direct the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) team throughout the design phase.
• Work closely with the client, design consultants, and architects to fully understand requirements and objectives.
• Provide valuable input from a construction perspective on buildability, life-cycle cost, programming, risk management, and selection of materials and systems.
• Develop preliminary procurement and construction strategies, identifying key work packages.
• Prepare and review accurate preliminary cost estimates throughout the design phase.
• Identify and mitigate potential design risks that could impact cost, schedule, or quality during construction.
• Ensure final designs are buildable, cost-effective, and aligned with BESIX's high standards of quality and safety.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for company management and stakeholders on ECI phase progress and recommendations.
• Facilitate a smooth transition from the design (ECI) phase to full execution.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in managing major construction projects, with proven and distinguished experience specifically in leading or actively participating in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phases for large-scale, high-value projects (preferably USD 100 million+).
• Deep understanding of all project development stages, from initial concept through design, construction, and delivery.
• Excellent knowledge of cost estimating principles, scheduling, contract management, and risk management.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels (clients, designers, internal team).
• Strong analytical thinking and complex problem-solving abilities.
• Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic is a strong advantage.
• Proven leadership skills in managing multidisciplinary teams.
