Job Description and Responsibilities
The successful physician will hold the position of Consultant in Pulmonology and will be responsible for providing specialized diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with respiratory system disorders. The core responsibilities of the role include:
- Conducting specialized clinical evaluations and diagnosing a wide spectrum of pulmonary and respiratory diseases, such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, and sleep-related breathing disorders.
- Interpreting results from advanced diagnostic tests including pulmonary function tests, chest CT scans, and bronchoscopic examinations.
- Developing comprehensive and personalized treatment plans for each patient, which may involve pharmacotherapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, and respiratory device management.
- Providing medical consultations to physicians from other specialties within the hospital regarding complex cases affecting the respiratory system.
- Supervising and training medical residents and students, and participating in continuous medical education activities.
- Adhering to the highest standards of medical quality, safety, and ethical practices as mandated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for patients.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this crucial consultancy opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Doctor of Medicine (MBBS) degree or equivalent, followed by a recognized Board Certification or equivalent higher specialization in Pulmonology/Respiratory Medicine from an accredited institution. A sub-specialty fellowship in a related area is highly preferred.
- Licensing: The applicant must hold a valid medical license from their country of origin. The ability to obtain a license to practice from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) will be a fundamental prerequisite.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of post-board certification experience working in a recognized academic hospital or major medical center. Experience must encompass a full scope of pulmonology practice.
- Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and consultative skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and patient interpersonal skills. Familiarity with the latest developments and techniques in pulmonology.
- Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage.
