Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Technical Manager will occupy a pivotal role within the company's technical and managerial structure, responsible for supporting the Technical Manager in all tasks related to obtaining and maintaining ASTA certifications. Core responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing Certification Processes: Leading and coordinating all activities related to securing ASTA certifications for products or processes, ensuring full compliance with the required technical specifications.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Developing and implementing quality control systems to ensure ongoing product conformity to ASTA standards, and conducting internal audits in preparation for external inspections.
  • Liaison with Certification Bodies: Acting as the primary point of contact with ASTA certification issuing bodies, managing all correspondence, applications, and audit visits.
  • Product Technical Review: Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to review product designs, specifications, and manufacturing methods to ensure they meet ASTA requirements.
  • Team Training: Training and qualifying technical staff and quality control personnel on relevant ASTA requirements and standards.
  • Reporting: Preparing periodic technical reports for senior management on certification status, any potential risks or non-conformities, and corrective action plans.
  • Research & Development: Contributing to R&D projects aimed at improving existing products or developing new ones that comply with or exceed ASTA standards.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent) from an accredited university. A Master's degree or advanced professional certifications will be a distinct advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in technical management or quality assurance, with proven, hands-on experience in managing ASTA certification acquisition and maintenance processes. Experience in relevant industries (e.g., cable manufacturing, electrical materials, construction) is essential.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ASTA standards and testing procedures (e.g., ASTA standards for cables). Comprehensive knowledge of international quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Managerial Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, with excellent organizational and planning skills to manage multiple certification projects simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus), with the ability to draft complex technical reports and communicate effectively with all organizational levels and external parties.
  • Personal Attributes: A proactive leader, detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure. Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements.
