Electrical Commissioning Specialist - Offshore
Duncan & Ross, a leading recruitment and engineering solutions provider in the Gulf region, is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Specialist for challenging offshore projects in the State of Qatar. This position offers an excellent opportunity for qualified electrical engineers to join critical projects within the energy and infrastructure sector.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be integrated into a dynamic team and will be primarily responsible for the commissioning, testing, and final handover of electrical systems on offshore facilities. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Leading and executing commissioning and testing activities for electrical systems on offshore platforms or associated facilities.
- Reviewing and inspecting electrical engineering drawings, commissioning plans, and test procedures (ITPs) to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- Supervising contractors and technicians during site commissioning and testing phases.
- Performing pre-commissioning and commissioning checks on electrical equipment such as switchgear, control systems, motors, lighting systems, and grounding systems.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during commissioning and testing.
- Ensuring all work is carried out according to the highest quality and safety standards (e.g., ISO standards, local Qatari regulations, industry best practices).
- Preparing daily technical reports and documenting test results and completion status.
- Coordinating closely with engineering, project, and operations teams to ensure smooth project handover.
- Strictly adhering to all marine and industrial safety (HSE) protocols in a hazardous work environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in electrical system commissioning, with a strong focus on offshore projects in the oil & gas or energy sector.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of international electrical engineering standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, API).
- Practical experience with medium and low-voltage electrical equipment.
- Strong understanding of marine and industrial safety (HSE) systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings accurately.
- Soft Skills:
- Leadership skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively within a team and in a multicultural environment.
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Additional Requirements: Previous experience working on projects in Qatar or the Gulf region is preferred. Candidates must be medically fit for offshore work.
Job Location
Your primary base will be in Doha, Qatar, with frequent travel and rotation required to offshore facilities as per project demands.
