Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful developer will be integrated into a specialized technical team and will be responsible for a range of key tasks related to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of systems based on the AS/400 (iSeries) platform. Expected responsibilities include:

• Development & Programming: Designing, coding, and developing new applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform using languages such as RPG (RPG ILE, RPG Free), CL, and potentially COBOL.
• Maintenance & Enhancement: Performing routine maintenance, optimizing the performance of existing applications, and debugging and troubleshooting to ensure system stability and smooth operation.
• Requirements Analysis: Collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications and effective software solutions.
• Database Management: Utilizing DB2 for i (integrated within the system) to create, query, and manage databases supporting the applications.
• Integration: Ensuring the integration of iSeries systems with other systems within the enterprise's IT infrastructure.
• Documentation: Preparing and updating technical documentation related to design, source code, and user manuals.
• Support: Providing necessary technical support to end-users and assisting in resolving operational issues.

Qualifications and Core Requirements

To be a suitable candidate for this opportunity, you should meet the following criteria:

• Proven hands-on experience in AS/400 (iSeries) development and applications, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years.
• Strong proficiency in the platform-specific programming languages, especially RPG (particularly RPG ILE or RPG Free) and CL (Control Language).
• In-depth understanding of the DB2 for i database and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Knowledge of IBM i (OS/400) operating system concepts and environment.
• Experience with development tools like RDi (Rational Developer for i) is a significant advantage.

• Language: Good command of English for written and verbal communication (essential for working in an international environment).
