Job Overview
The successful candidate will occupy a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization's IT systems, policies, and procedures. You will be the primary point of responsibility for reviewing and evaluating IT controls, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and relevant local and international regulations. This role acts as a crucial bridge between technical and administrative departments to foster a culture of security and compliance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Controls Review & Assessment: Conduct regular and comprehensive reviews of existing IT controls to assess their effectiveness and efficiency.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and document IT risks facing the organization, and propose mitigation plans.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure IT systems, policies, and procedures comply with adopted standards (e.g., ISO 27001, or sector-specific standards) and any applicable local regulations in Oman.
- Reporting: Develop and prepare detailed reports on the findings of reviews and assessments, including observations, recommendations, and required corrective actions, and present them to senior management.
- Continuous Development: Contribute to the development and improvement of information security management and compliance policies and frameworks within the organization.
- Awareness & Training: Work with various teams to promote awareness of information security importance and compliance requirements among staff.
- Auditor Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external auditors during IT-related audit processes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration.
- Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in a similar field, such as IT audit, information assurance, or security compliance management.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of information security principles, risk management frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, COBIT), and networking/IT infrastructure concepts.
- Professional Certifications: Professional certifications such as CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor are a strong advantage.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data. Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
