Geoscience Testing Laboratory in Dubai is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join its team as a Material / Civil Lab Technician. Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be integrated into the laboratory's specialized testing division, responsible for precise technical tasks that support Dubai's and the UAE's vast construction and development landscape. The core responsibilities of this role include:

• Conducting routine and specialized tests on construction materials such as cement, concrete, steel, aggregates, bricks, tiles, insulation materials, and others in compliance with local (e.g., ESMA standards) and international (e.g., ASTM, BS, ACI) specifications.
• Preparing material samples for testing and ensuring proper storage, curing, and handling requirements are met before and during testing procedures.
• Operating, maintaining, and calibrating various laboratory equipment used for compression, tensile, flexural, penetration, density, and other related tests.
• Accurately recording test data and results and preparing preliminary test reports.
• Assisting in the analysis of results and providing technical support to engineers and supervisory staff.
• Strictly adhering to established laboratory safety and security protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Participating in equipment calibration and internal quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Technology, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institute or college.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a construction materials or civil engineering testing laboratory. Experience in an accredited lab or one serving construction projects is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth practical knowledge of standard test methods for concrete and structural materials.
  • Proficiency in operating specialized laboratory equipment (e.g., compression and tensile testing machines).
  • Strong understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) principles in engineering projects.
• Personal Skills:
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data recording and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong commitment to occupational health and safety standards.
• Other Requirements: Proficiency in English (reading and writing) for handling technical procedures and reports. Knowledge of Arabic is a distinct advantage.
