Job Description
The Piping Design Engineer will be integrated into the core engineering team and will be responsible for the technical and design aspects of piping systems within projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and designing Piping Layouts and Isometric Drawings using industry-standard Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as SP3D, PDMS, or AutoCAD.
- Preparing piping design specifications and requirements in compliance with international codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API) and client standards.
- Coordinating closely with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical) to ensure optimal system integration.
- Conducting design reviews and checking the accuracy of drawings and technical documents before issuance for construction.
- Providing technical support across various project phases, from conceptual design through to construction and installation.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable company, project, and statutory safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Analyzing and resolving technical problems that may arise during the project lifecycle.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field from a recognized university.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in piping design, with a strong focus on oil & gas, hydrocarbon, or petrochemical/chemical plant projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in 3D piping design software, specifically SP3D (SmartPlant 3D) or PDMS. Familiarity with AutoCAD is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of piping design codes and standards (ASME B31.3, ANSI).
- Strong understanding of material types, valves, and piping auxiliaries.
- Ability to read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and other engineering drawings.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
