Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the daily operational health and safety of heavy industrial equipment. The core responsibilities of this position include:
- Performing Preventive & Routine Maintenance: Executing scheduled maintenance plans for heavy machinery (such as hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, large pumps, and diesel engines) to prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Quickly and accurately diagnosing the root causes of mechanical failures and performing necessary repairs using appropriate tools and equipment, while minimizing downtime.
- Equipment Inspection & Testing: Conducting routine pre- and post-operation inspections and testing equipment performance after repairs to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
- Reading Technical Schematics: Ability to use hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical blueprints to trace systems and perform disassembly and reassembly tasks.
- Spare Parts Management: Assisting in identifying required spare parts, placing orders, and maintaining a record of consumed inventory.
- Adherence to Safety Standards: Applying and following all stringent occupational health and safety protocols in place at the plant, ensuring all practices comply with local regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Recording all maintenance and repair work performed, fault incidents, and operational hours in the required technical reports.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To apply successfully for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Mechanics (with a focus on heavy equipment), or a related technical field from a recognized institute or college.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role as a Mechanical Technician, with a strong focus on maintaining and repairing heavy machinery and equipment in an industrial, plant, or specialized workshop environment.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical principles, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools, hand tools, and specialized electrical maintenance equipment.
- Ability to diagnose complex faults and develop practical, effective solutions.
- Basic knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Personal Skills:
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to work in shifts or overtime when required.
Work Environment & Location
The work environment will be at an industrial site or plant within the United Arab Emirates. The technician is expected to be able to work in conditions that may include noise, dust, prolonged standing, and handling heavy components.
