Job Description and Responsibilities

The Principal Piping Engineer will play a pivotal role in leading and directing engineering activities related to piping systems on projects. Their core responsibility will be to ensure the optimal, safe, and economical design of piping systems, in full compliance with international standards and client specifications. The engineer is expected to undertake the following tasks:

• Technical Leadership: Provide leadership and technical expertise to the piping engineering team, supervising the work of engineers and designers.
• Design and Review: Develop, review, and approve piping system drawings and specifications (P&IDs, layout drawings, isometrics, etc.).
• Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs and specifications comply with relevant international standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Project Management: Collaborate closely with project managers and engineers from other disciplines (mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure seamless system integration.
• Problem Solving: Identify and analyze complex technical problems within piping systems and provide effective engineering solutions.
• Contractor Review: Review and evaluate contractor and vendor submissions and drawings.
• Quality Assurance: Contribute to design review processes and ensure quality assurance procedures are followed.
• Construction & Commissioning Support: Provide technical support during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
• Experience: A minimum of 15 years of practical experience in piping engineering, with proven experience in a lead or principal engineering role on major Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects, preferably in the oil & gas, energy, or petrochemical sectors.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of piping design codes and specifications (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8). Strong experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and specialized engineering software such as CAESAR II for stress analysis.
• Leadership Skills: Excellent team leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all stakeholders and manage priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Language: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantageous addition.
