Job Description and Responsibilities

The appointed Project & Business Risk Manager will hold a leadership role, responsible for developing, implementing, and maturing an integrated risk management framework at both project and business levels across the region. They will work closely with project management teams and senior leadership to ensure risks are proactively identified and mitigated.

Key responsibilities include:

• Strategic Leadership: Lead and foster a risk-aware culture within the organization at a regional level, ensuring risk management practices align with the company's global business objectives.
• Framework & Policy Development: Design, implement, and update comprehensive project and business risk management policies, procedures, and framework, in line with international best practices and standards.
• Assessment & Analysis: Conduct systematic risk assessments for new and existing projects, encompassing commercial, financial, operational, and HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) risks. Analyze risk probability and impact to prioritize mitigation efforts.
• Mitigation Planning: Develop proactive and innovative risk mitigation and contingency plans, working with project managers to integrate these into project execution plans.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and operate a monitoring system to regularly report risk status to key stakeholders, including senior management, highlighting critical risks and emerging trends.
• Guidance & Support: Provide guidance and expertise to project teams throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from tendering and estimation through to execution and delivery.
• Compliance & Assurance: Ensure all activities and projects comply with internal company regulations and relevant local and international regulatory requirements. This may involve coordinating internal risk assurance audits.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree (e.g., MBA) or a recognized professional qualification in Risk Management or Project Management (such as PMP, CRM) will be a significant advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within risk management, with a strong focus on managing risks for major projects in the energy, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors. Previous experience working with global engineering or construction firms like WorleyParsons is a strong plus.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of risk management methodologies (qualitative and quantitative assessment), frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000), and project management tools. Knowledge of industry standards in the Middle East region is important.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead change, influence stakeholders at all levels, build effective teams, and foster a risk-aware culture.
• Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present clear, concise reports. Excellent communication and presentation skills in English are essential; Arabic language skills are preferred.
• Personal Attributes: A proactive, strategic problem-solver with the ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
