Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The QA QC Engineer will be primarily responsible for ensuring all project works adhere to standard specifications, engineering codes, and local/international quality regulations. The core duties include:
- Developing and implementing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans for ongoing construction projects.
- Conducting regular site inspections and reviews of materials, structural works, and installations to verify compliance with required specifications.
- Reviewing and examining project documentation, including engineering drawings, material specifications, and method statements.
- Issuing daily and weekly inspection reports, documenting any Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and ensuring follow-up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinating with the Project Manager, engineers, and subcontractors to promote a culture of quality at all levels.
- Ensuring all materials used on-site possess the necessary Certificates of Conformity (COC) and laboratory test results.
- Conducting internal audits of processes and procedures to enhance the company's quality management system.
- Ensuring full compliance with relevant Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards while performing quality control duties.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar QA/QC Engineer role within the building construction contracting sector in the Gulf region, with preference given to UAE experience.
- In-depth knowledge of local building regulations and codes in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.
- Strong understanding of international quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality control principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with diverse project teams.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and relevant engineering software.
Preferred Skills
- Possession of professional quality certifications (e.g., CQA, CQE).
- Experience across different types of construction projects (residential, commercial, infrastructure).
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures.
