This position represents an exceptional career opportunity for qualified nurses with proven experience in critical care, specifically within the demanding field of cardiac surgery. The successful candidate will become an integral part of a multidisciplinary medical team dedicated to providing the highest standard of post-operative care for critically ill patients.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering specialized and comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU. Core duties will include:

  • Direct Patient Care: Closely monitoring patients' vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation) and managing potent intravenous medications and precise drug titrations.
  • Operation of Specialized Equipment: Competently operating and maintaining advanced medical equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and ventricular assist devices.
  • Continuous Assessment: Performing ongoing clinical assessments of patient status, identifying early signs of potential complications such as hemorrhage, infection, or arrhythmias, and reporting promptly to the attending physician.
  • Post-Operative Care: Managing surgical wounds, chest tubes, arterial lines, and central venous catheters while ensuring strict aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
  • Psychosocial Support and Education: Providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, and offering health education regarding the treatment and recovery plan.
  • Accurate Documentation: Precisely and timely documenting all clinical observations, nursing interventions, and patient responses in electronic medical records.
  • Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthetists, physiotherapists, and fellow nursing staff to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be eligible for this vital role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited university.
  • Licensure: Applicants must possess a valid nursing license from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), or be eligible to obtain one. A previous license from the country of origin is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of total nursing experience, with at least 2 years of documented experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Specialized experience in a Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) or Cardiac Surgery ICU is highly preferred.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of advanced certifications is strongly preferred:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support).
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
    • A certification in Critical Care Nursing (e.g., CCRN or equivalent).
  • Personal Skills: Ability to work effectively under pressure, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high attention to detail and accuracy, empathy for patients, and the capacity to make rapid decisions in emergency situations.
  • Language: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage.

This position in Riyadh offers a competitive benefits package typical of the Saudi healthcare sector, which may include (subject to the hiring hospital's policy):

  • Comfortable accommodation or a housing allowance.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance for the employee and sometimes for dependents.
