Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed engineer will be responsible for leading and developing sales activities related to Retrofit solutions for HVAC systems in existing projects. This role focuses not only on new sales but requires a deep understanding of the development and improvement needs of current infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
- Opportunity Identification and Development: Proactively seeking out opportunities for HVAC system retrofit projects in existing commercial, residential, industrial, and hospitality buildings in Muscat and other areas.
- Technical Assessment and Analysis: Conducting field visits to existing sites to evaluate the condition of current HVAC systems, analyze their performance, and identify weaknesses and improvement needs to enhance efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
- Solution and Proposal Development: Designing and presenting comprehensive technical and financial proposals to potential clients, featuring upgraded HVAC system solutions with a focus on energy savings, improved reliability, and lower operational costs.
- Sales Cycle Management: Managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation, proposal submission, technical and financial negotiation, through to deal closure and handover to the execution team.
- Relationship Building: Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key clients, contractors, consultants, and facility managers in the construction and building maintenance sector.
- Internal Coordination: Working closely with internal engineering and technical teams to ensure the feasibility of proposals and adherence to client specifications.
Qualifications and Core Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in technical or engineering sales, with a strong focus on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Direct experience in Retrofit projects or system upgrades for existing buildings is a significant competitive advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HVAC system principles, components, heat load calculations, and energy efficiency standards (such as LEED or local regulations).
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-specialists.
- Ability to work independently and manage time and priorities effectively.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
