Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Supervisor will be directly responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities for a wide range of equipment and facilities within the port environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervision & Planning: Leading and directing a team of maintenance technicians. Planning and scheduling daily and weekly maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to operational workflows.
- Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensuring all maintenance work is carried out in compliance with the highest company and industry standards for quality and safety. Promoting a strong safety culture within the team.
- Equipment Management: Overseeing the maintenance of port equipment, which may include cranes, terminal tractors, haulage systems, and fixed installations.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing complex equipment failures and orchestrating practical, cost-effective, and timely solutions.
- Inventory & Budget: Assisting in managing the inventory of spare parts and tools. Monitoring expenditures against the allocated maintenance budget.
- Reporting: Preparing regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, achievements, and challenges for relevant managers.
- Development: Contributing to the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and preventive maintenance programs.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A higher technical diploma with equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Experience in a maritime port or heavy industrial environment is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles. Proficiency in reading technical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and supervisory abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and make swift decisions. Outstanding organizational and analytical skills.
- Other Requirements: Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Knowledge of Arabic may be an additional advantage.
