Job Overview
The Senior Analyst for Fatigue Risk Management occupies a pivotal role within the airline's operational safety management structure. The core focus of the role is to develop, implement, and monitor integrated Fatigue Risk Management (FRM) programs for flight and cabin crew, directly contributing to the enhancement of safety culture and accident prevention. The incumbent acts as a technical expert and key point of reference for all matters related to human fatigue science and its impact on performance in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and update Fatigue Risk Management (FRM) policies and procedures in compliance with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) regulations and global best practices (e.g., IATA, ICAO).
- Analyze operational crew scheduling data using scientific tools and models (e.g., sleep models) to assess inherent fatigue risks.
- Conduct regular fatigue-related risk assessments and propose effective mitigation measures to operational management.
- Manage the Fatigue Reporting System, including receiving, analyzing reports, and preparing periodic summaries on trends and insights.
- Design and deliver awareness and training programs for flight crews and management on the importance of fatigue management and recognition mechanisms.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Planning, Training, and Human Resources departments to integrate fatigue considerations into processes and systems.
- Prepare detailed presentations and documentation for regulatory bodies, internal, and external audits.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific research and regulatory developments in the field of fatigue management and human factors science.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Aviation Sciences, Engineering, Health & Safety Sciences, Psychology, or a similar discipline. A postgraduate degree is a distinct advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in aviation safety management, with proven and direct hands-on experience in Fatigue Risk Management (FRM). Previous experience with an airline or aviation regulatory body is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of UAE GCAA regulations and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements related to fatigue management and rest periods.
- Proficiency in using scientific fatigue assessment software and models (e.g., FAST, Alertness).
- Strong analytical and statistical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Personal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage). Ability to work within a team and communicate across all organizational levels. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
